[wolf_dropcap text=”P” font=”Montserrat”]raise God from whom all blessings flow! As always, it is a joy and privilege for the Lord’s people to gather in the Lord’s house on another Lord’s Day! All glory and honor is due His Name for another undeserved opportunity to worship Him in spirit and in truth! God be praised! Additionally, it is a privilege to greet you on this special occasion of Pastoral Anniversary/Appreciation. I wanted to be sure to take a moment to talk about what today truly means. While many people have their own conceptions and ideas surrounding this day, I want to clearly express that this day is not a day to simply honor the office of the pastor and his family but to worship the God who calls pastor and people together. Notwithstanding, I am clear on what the bible says about honoring those in spiritual leadership; “Dear brothers and sisters, honor those who are your leaders in the Lord’s work. They work hard among you and give you spiritual guidance. Show them great respect and wholehearted love because of their work. And live peacefully with each other (1 Thess. 5:12-13)”. Through the scope of my lens, my prayer is that we use this day as a “Selah” experience: we pause to reflect upon God’s goodness and give Him glory for all that He has done through our collaborative efforts! Hallelujah and Amen!
As I reflect upon our first year together, I thank God for every mountain climbed, every river crossed and every challenge that we have overcome through the power of God. The glory for every victory belongs to God and the responsibility of every failure rests upon me. I thank you for your revolutionary patience with this young pastor that has made each day of serving you one of my life’s greatest joys. I thank you for the opportunity to serve you and I hope to continue to earn your trust and win your love as we follow the path upon which God leads. While we still have much work to do, today is a day to remember that God has truly brought us ‘a mighty long way”. There are some who did not think we would make it this far but thanks be unto God who gives us the victory through Jesus Christ, our Lord! I am most excited when I consider that this is only the beginning! Hallelujah and Amen!
Lastly, I want to offer a general word of thanks to the Beulah Baptist Church family for the many ways you have warmly welcomed my family. You have cared for us with unmatched love and concern and I am thoroughly convinced there is no greater church anywhere! A special heartfelt “thank you” to Mrs. Willie Mae Parks (President) and the entire Pastor’s Aide team, who have demonstrated significant support to the Vickers family! Thank you and we love you! I also want to thank our Pastor Emeritus, Rev. W.L. Cottrell for availing himself much more than any retired person should! “Have I told you lately that I love you?” I want to thank our church staff who has tirelessly given of themselves and our Deacons and Trustee Ministries for their leadership, confidence and competence. Finally, I want to offer a loving thank you to my wife, Cierrá and Eric Jr. for the love and unselfishness they have shown in allowing me to serve God’s people. I love you to the moon and back! Once again, thank you for an awesome first year! Let the work continue! Rejoice and be glad!
